Fragments For Friday: November 2

Sometimes things happen throughout the week that are interesting and blog-worthy, but they just aren't a full post. Fragments for Friday to the rescue! All of those random thoughts collected over the week can go in one place: Fragments for Friday. Not a Myrtle and I are so excited so offer you the chance to link up and share your Fragments for Friday. So jot your notes and link up!
  • Pip and Pop are still nameless. Seriously names are hard work!
  • I struggled for two weeks looking for a new blog name (and still am trying to decide between three!). I did redo the layout and background and I like those. The header keeps changing as I try and come up with something I like. Hopefully all finished soon?
  • On Saturday we went to SMU Homecoming. Lots of emotions. I felt old. I couldn't believe how few people we ran into that we knew. But, the game was great! And, SMU won!
  • Figuring out shower invites is really hard. My first shower is in my hometown (tomorrow...eeek!) so that invite list is obviously finished and we invited all the people from my hometown plus family. My next shower is being hostessed by two friends from college. Determining who gets invited to that one is a lot harder! I have lost touch with so many people, including bridesmaids from my wedding. And, what is the etiquette on out of town people? For a wedding you invite out of town bridesmaids but no one else. Well, there are no bridesmaids this time, so does that mean no one from out of town gets invited at all? Or do I invite close friends anyway?
  • Our garage broke. Because we obviously needed one more thing to think about and spend money on. I'm not saying anything more on this. Just grrr. Luckily, we managed to find someone to fix it so I'm no longer parking in the driveway.
  • I asked Casey if he wanted to have a Twilight marathon with me before the new one comes out in November. He never really answered. I think he feels bad telling the pregnant girl no. So I'm considering hosting a party. By hosting, I really mean I will straighten my house a big and buy popcorn. Eight and a half hours. Four movies. One day. Who wants an invite?
  • Because I think it is so important: I posted this week about adult vaccinations for folks around babies. In particular, I wrote about the whooping cough vaccine. We sent a link to our families and really hope our parents and siblings prayerfully consider vaccinating themselves to protect Pip and Pop.
  • A sneak peek: I spent Thursday crafting. I made sign-in frames for my showers, a gift list for the display shower tomorrow, and prettied up my hostess gifts for tomorrow's shower.
  • We bought our stroller on Saturday. Lonestar Baby (the baby store in Frisco I have blogged about before -- seriously awesome store) had a one-day only sale and actually had Baby Jogger brand strollers on sale for 15% off. Even though it isn't a huge discount, 15% off made our brand new in box stroller about the same price as I have seem used Baby Jogger City Select strollers sell for on eBay. For an update on our baby purchases so far check out the Buying All The Things Page.
  • On Sunday, our church, Munger Place, celebrated it's Second Birthday. We had a powerful service, many new members joined, and two adult baptisms! Also on Sunday, Munger Place had a Birthday Party and Trunk or Treat celebration. We are so blessed to be part of such an amazing family of faith.
  • We desperately need new carpet in all of the bedrooms and have decided to replace it before the boys come. (No one wants to crawl on gross carpet.) Of course, this leads to another issue. We need our trim painted and have wall colors we don't like. Before new carpet is the perfect time to paint the trim and walls. But, sadly, I'm not supposed to be around paint fumes. I guess trim and hallway painting should be left for another day.
  • More of my nursery decor has arrived:
Triceratops Heads from DwellStudio
  • I truly believe in the power of prayer and know that God listens and responds. He is all-powerful, all-wonderful, and all-capable. He is capable of infinitely more than infinitesimally more than we can even imagine (Ephesians 3:20). On my heart:
    • The Eastern Seaboard of our country as it begins the recovery from Frankenstorm Sandy.
    • Jenny's Dad who suffered a heart attack last week and is still in the ICU. He received a pacemaker on Thursday, which will hopefully help aid his recovery.
    • A friend (my best friend's SIL) who is now pregnant after IVF. She had her second beta this week and is now waiting on her ultrasound!
    • Last week, I mentioned Jen who spent 3 weeks on hospitalized bed rest. She was taken off of labor preventing medications last Thursday at 35w and sent home last Friday. Ethan is proving to be a stubborn baby and despite his early efforts to leave has now decided he isn't quite ready for eviction. Prayers for Jen as she adjusts her mindset from the possibility of a preemie to a baby who appears content to go full-term.
    • Drake and Kennedy Gilstrap. Kennedy went home last night! Complications from her immunizations delayed her trip by a few days, but she is doing well now. Thank you Jesus! Drake will stay at the hospital fighting and recovering from surgery. Huge praise that his (four!) surgeries on Wednesday all went well.
    • Numerous twitter friends going through infertility treatments, pregnancy complications, bed rest, waiting for adoption or surrogacy, and the struggles of raising kids. It is sometimes easy to forget the toll infertility can take on our relationships with spouses and I would particularly like to raise up Emma (@babywishes25) this week.

  1. Names are hard! Took us forever to decide and I ended up with something I had never really considered before. Your nursery ideas seem great. What a fun time.

    1. I'm loving all the bits and pieces of nursery we've bought! Next up: painting the room! Then, new carpet. Painting furniture.....the list goes on and on!

  2. It took me forever to decide on my blog name and a lot longer to stick with a header and design that I like. I still change it from time to time.

I'm SO loving your nursery ideas. It's really starting to come together.

Doesn't it make you feel old to go to college games??? I think college students are getting younger and younger, because we certainly can't be getting older.

    1. I loved my blog name but it just isn't right anymore. I'm trying to come up with something with longevity and its just not easy!

I have a new name/header I started working on yesterday I'm liking. Maybe it's the one!

    2. We have season tickets to games at our alma mater (SMU) and seriously! The girls! Casey and I spent half our time on the Boulevard wondering if their Dad's knew what they were wearing. It was an afternoon game so modesty would ha been okay. But those dresses were just so short. Ad they all looked like babies!! It didn't help that we didn't know very many people who came for the game. Made us feel even older!

  3. I never heard of this out of town etiquette on weddings! Almost all our guests were from out of town since we've moved around quite a bit. I say showers should be full of people you like and want to celebrate with. I never had anyone take the time to throw me a shower, but I say invite who you want regardless of where they live.

As for painting, it's only oil paint fumes you shouldn't be around. Latex paint has a smell but its not really fumes. I painted our whole bedroom when I was pregnant with G!

I'm glad to see this linky. Maybe this will encourage me to blog more as I can link up with you guys on Fridays! I lack creativity and focus most days!!!
