Oh Baby Baby

So in the past week, I have been asked 7 (yes, thats right, 7) times if I'm pregnant.  Seriously?!?  I know that I'm no skinny-minny (read:  I'm overweight) but I don't have a big belly pooch.  I've actually lost weight recently.  No.  I'm not pregnant.

In the past week, I've been asked 6 (yep, you read that right) times if we are trying yet.  Sadly, these questions didn't come from the people who want to know if I'm already pregnant.

That makes 13 total people asking me about my ovaries lately.  I'm sorry, but the state of my ovaries is exceedingly private.

I realize that babies are everywhere.  I log into facebook and I see ads for all things baby (apparently even facebook takes advantage of targeted marketing!).  I get e-mails from The Nest for all things baby (umm seriously Nest, I didn't sign up for your page).  But, just because I see them everywhere and it's the cool thing to talk about doesn't mean I want to talk about with you.

I realize we aren't exactly newlyweds anymore.  I know that lots of people have babies after being married a year - and we've had two and a half.  But that doesn't mean we have to try yet!  I've only 24!!!  Can all things baby not hold off until I'm adult?

Oh wait.  I am adult.  When did that happen?

  1. What? I can't believe people are being so nosy! And you definitely don't look pregnant! I am over weight and I used to worry about people asking me if I was pregnant, but then I was with a skinny mini friend of mine and someone asked her if she was pregnant. I finally came to the conclusion that people don't ask you if you are pregnant because of your size, they ask you if you are pregnant because they have no social skills.

  3. Oh you poor thing! I can totally empathize. Mr. Lipstick were married SIX years before any kids. Nevermind that he was finishing college and I was finishing pharmacy school-people hounded us about it anyway.

  4. How nosey that people would ask you if you are pregnant! We went thru a small phase of the "when are you guys going to try?" or "You're next!" About the time that I convinced everyone it would be another year or two, we ended up being pregnant! haha, so we surprised everyone! Ever ourselves!

  5. I was always uncomfortable with people asking me "Are you trying..." Perhaps I'm a prude, but asking that question, is an inquiry into someone's sex life. I just think it's funny how so many people think it's acceptable to ask about babies. I know they all mean well though. :-)

  6. I had to laugh a little just because of your chipper commentary on the whole issue but what I hated most was being POST pregnancy and having someone ask me how far ALONG I was. Ummm... baby is 6 months old. Just wait.. the questions never end!
