About a month after we got her, we found out she had a whipworm which was seriously upsetting her poor little tummy. She lost A LOT of weight while we fought it. She then had a bacterial overgrowth, first in her small intestines, and then when she was over that it came back in her large intestines. This sort of complication is apparently common with whipworms - but that doesn't make it any easier!
We finally got over all of these tummy issues in June and she started putting on some weight. Until then she had never gotten above 6.2lbs (and has dropped below 5lbs at one point). Based on her height, her healthy weight is probably 8-12lbs.
We took her to the opthamologist yesterday to have her little eyes checked out (remember why?) Well it turns out - her eye issues are because she didn't eat for a while. She has a Vitamin E deficiency. I'm so excited because this is something we can easily fix - a few vitamins and some tasty treats and she'll be good to go!
