Make-Up?

In my efforts to save money, I bought drug store mascara last week.  A number of you have mentioned Cover Girl Lash Blast on your blogs - and wow!  I can't say enough!  My lashes look ridiculously thick!!!! I also bought the Neutrogena Facial Peel and my skin is so smooth right now!

I've never done drug store makeup before because of skin issues - but I've pretty much outgrown all of them and so I'm ready to take the plunge.  I normally wear a combination of Fresh and Paula Dorff and pay like $42 for foundation, $45nfor powder, $45 for bronzer, etc.   I want to try and find something less expensive to wear on normal days (I think I'll stick to my combination of Fresh and Paula Dorff for special occasions and church).

Do you have any product recomendations for me?  What should I try? What should I stay away from?  What are your experiences with drug store make-up?

  1. I'm kind of a mix and match girl. I usa Almay and CoverGirl eyeshadows because I cannot justify spending $20 on one teeny little eyeshadow from Nordstrom. I usually still wear pricey foundation, but, I figure, that's the base... But, I cannot live without my Dior mascara.

  2. I have to go try that mascara now. I am almost out of my current tube, so now is a great time!

I use Bare Minerals. I love, love, love it. My skin is really sensitive and prone to breakouts when I am stressed/pmsing. Bare Minerals is so natural that they say you can sleep in it without it being awful for your skin. I didn't think it would work. I didn't think that brushing some powder on your face would give any coverage whatsoever. But, it really does! It looks so natural, but pretty. It's like a prettier version of me, not a made up version.

The foundation is like $25 and it lasts me (wearing makeup 7 days a week) about 8-10 months. I

  3. I love love love cheapy liquid eyeliner. I put a TON on and go through tubes quick! Both Wet n Wild and NYC makeup have good black liquid liners for maybe $2!

  4. loreal's new hip eyshadows are my favorite! (made by the same company as MAC) and I like cover girl's powder. I think the foundation I have is loreal too, but I love clinique. (I know it's not drugstore, but it is around $25)

  5. I am a big fan of Bare Essentials Make-up. It looks natural but goes on smooth and holds all day long!

  6. I think I must have been blessed with fairly tolerant skin. I have always worn drug store make-up with a little bit of mary kay mixed in (my sis sold it for a while). Anyway, I love the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. I have never had problems with it and it goes on very light and smooth. I also like Covergirl too.

  8. Maybeline Superstay Silky foundation. It's the best. Goes on very smooth and does a great job at evening everything out! I hope you've gotten some helpful tips!

  9. I'll second Lindsey on the Bare Essentials. They even have a store at NP next to Nordstrom. It's not totally inexpensive, but it lasts a LONG time.

I've started wearing the same mascara as you from the drugstore and like it a lot. The last one I used was by Fresh and it was AWFUL, though I like most everything else they make.

The other drugstore product I like is Neutrogena's lipstick. It comes in a little silver tube, has SPF 15 and stays on well.
