A long overdue post

A few weeks ago, Casey and I went to Nascar.  All I can say is: Wow!  It was my first time at a Nascar race and it was so much fun!  We went with BB&T, who sponsors Clint Bowyer in the number 2 car.
We started the day off in the hospitality tent where we ate a great lunch and got to meet Richard Childress of Richard Childress Racing.  If you've never heard of him I suggest you Google - he is mighty impressive!

After lunch, we were able to go on a pit tour and meet the crew who runs the number 2 car.  It was incredible.  We
were down standing and talking to the crew while the cars were racing around the track doing their practice laps.  You could FEEL the cars zoom by.  I couldn't believe the size of the tires - look at Casey compared to the tires!  We were also able to watch them change the tires on a car and I was really impressed with just how fast they can change a tire.  (I can't even get a lug nut off let alone change a tire - and they can do the whole thing in seconds!)

We had great seats for the race and could see the entire track.  BB&T also provided us with headsets so we could listen to the drivers and pit crews talking.  I spent half of the race wanting to shout at the drivers - I mean when you are driving at 180mph you shouldn't be talking!  But it was pretty amazing to listen to them.

I was horrified by the things people wore to the race and I wish I had taken pictures!

You wouldn't believe the number of girls wearing bikini tops.  It was warm, but not hot.  There was no reason to leave your shirt at home!  Please check yourself when you walk out the front door.  If you forgot a shirt but remembered stilletos you have problems.

I (not surprisingly) saw numerous mullets and had to continuously fight the urge to break out the Billy Ray Cyrus music:
I want my mullet back.
My ol' Camero, an' my eight-track.
Fuzzy dice hangin' loose an' proud.
ZZ Top, they're playin' loud.
A simple time, that's what I miss.
Your mini-skirt an' your sweet kiss.
Things are changin' man, an' that's a fact.
I want my mullet back.
Please tell me I'm not the only Billy Ray fan..... But really, do people with mullets honestly think they look good?  Are they that oblivious to the snickering and pointing?

But really, characters came crawling out of the woodwork and I think they were all sitting around us!  We had a great day, and even though our driver, Clint, didn't win the race that day, he did win the series this season!
