Baby Fever

Nope - I'm not posting that I'm pregnant.  But between friends from blogland, high school, and college I have had 7 people announce pregancies in the last few days!  I am so ready to be ready to have a child.  I know that doesn't make sense.  So let me explain.

I want nothing more from life than to a good mother.  If I can do that while being a professor - I'll be even happier.  If I can't than motherhood is all that I need.  Casey really wants kids too.  We've talked a lot about when we will have kids and we both know that now isn't the right time.  Casey is working incredibly long hours AND going to school.  To have a child before he graduates wouldn't be fair to him.  It would also be nice to have at least my qualifying exams done before I am trying to squeeze studying in during nap times.

All of the logical reasons tell us that waiting another two years makes sense.  But that doesn't make the waiting any easier when I hear all of these happy moms-to-be.

The one thing that might make it easier:

all of the little ones already in my life.  Casey and I have nine nieces and nephews who all live close by.  Whenever I really need a baby I can borrow Maddie (1) or Ryan (2).  When I want a little sass Courtney (6) and Landry (6) have plenty to offer!  A bundle of sweetness you certainly turn to Cooper (4).  If a tornado of energy is your thing than McKinley (4) or Aaron (8) is the best bet.  For quiet mischief than Megan (4) is the answer.  And when we want a reminder of the difficulties of parenting, a conversation with Abby (12) who just started dating does the trick.

We are so blessed to have such great family all near by - and when I start feeling sad that we don't have our own rugrats yet we can always babysit!

  1. Thanks for the Mexican food comment. I have tried ALL of those places, and I can't even force myself to go back there. They are THAT bad. Sad huh?

I hope you make it back to Germany soon!

  5. I can completely understand what you are going thru.. I got the baby fever 2 years after we were married.. We knew we always wanted children, but knew we needed to wait another year to year and half! We set goals, prayed about when the time was right and ding ding, we both felt at peace about it and God blessed us! I am so glad that we waited out a little longer b/c I am soo incredibly grateful! God had a few things He wanted to take us thru, show us before blessing us with a little one! Hang in there and my advice is dream about it all you want! I can tell you will make a great mom! :)

  6. I know - isn't everyone getting pregnant these days! It is exciting, but I know enough to know I'm not quite ready. I love kids and can't wait to be a mom, but I want to be an aunt first. Luckily my sister was happy to oblige (finally!) Anyway, the hubby must be out of school and I think we might spend some time being married without being in school. So I guess that means don't look for me if you want kids to play with :) I think I'll come visit you instead!!!

  7. I know! We had the same thing happen to us many times at our old church, TONS of friends were pregnant every few years and we waited until it was right for us, but it was difficult to wait sometimes :) At least you have lots of little ones to babysit, we did for our friends sometimes too! Thank you so much for your sweet comment yesterday, I really appreciated it!

  10. Hey, girl! Thanks for the comment. It is not really any huge thing- just a boss that I truly believe is bipolar and a chewing for nothing. Ugh. When we get those- we stay on the "poop-list" for months... to the point of saying hello to the girl I commute with and ignoring me (or vise versa if she's on the list). It is ridiculous. Almost jr. high-ish.

My kids are not going to the school I teach at so that is the driving force for the "I need a new job" prayer. I've been praying it for 4 years, and it is getting closer and closer to #1 going to Kindergarten. Yikes!

Anyway- sorry for the novel-length comment! Just thought I would give a little background that I can't on my blog. =)

Oh yeah... is your Landry a boy or girl? I love that name and wanted #1 to be Landry Brooke, but hubby said it is a boy name.
