A Question for People Who Know About Dallas

So my husband and I play musical chairs every Sunday.  Lately, we go to a different church every Sunday.  We went to Lover's Lane United Methodist for about 6 weeks - we desperately wanted to like it because it was a recommendation from the pastor at my home church.  In that 6 weeks, no one ever greeted us, said hi to us, contacted us (even though I filled out the contact me card every week).  I think Lover's Lane might have had a good Sunday School class, but since no one every contacted us I'm not sure.  We think it is really important to find people to fellowship with - and are really struggling to do this.  Part of the challenge: we both prefer a traditional service (which is pretty unusual among people our age!)  We are more than willing to try contemporary services and if that is where we find the best fit, so be it, although we both love traditional hymns and would miss them!

So the question:  Does anyone go to (or know of or heard a rumor about) a good church in Dallas that has a place for a young couple with no kids to fit in?  We're looking for new places to try.  And more importantly - we want to find a place to call home!

  1. Oh you would LOVE our church! They have wonderful fellwship, very outgoing congragation, and beautiful, and I mean beautiful services. It is Episcopal, but they welcome everyone to partake in communion.

  2. I go to Watermark Community Church, and although my church isn't traditional, it has tons of young people and tons of young couples with no children. I started going there, not for the pastor or for the praise and worship, but only for the fellowship and community. And pretty soon, I loved all the other stuff, too. But it's very contemporary, and we don't really dress up for church, which I know can be weird for some people.

  3. I think you would love Watermark too! I just recently started going and it is filled with young people. I also attend Park Cities Baptist. They have a wonderful traditional service and a great program for young, newlyweds.
I have also attended a number of churches in the Dallas area and these two are the ones I frequent. I am also with PP, the Episcopal church has beautiful services. I grew up in the Episcopal church and their services are some of my favorites too.

  6. Try Highland Park Presbyterian on University Avenue. Seems to hold lots of young couples, and lots of programs devoted to couples.
