House Hunting Day One Favorites

I went out with our realtor, Susan Bradley, for the first time today and saw some great things! At the end of the day I had two favorites and had ruled out quite a few.

The first is a smaller house in Briarwood on Amherst. It isn't very big (only 1536sqft) but it has a really great floorplan - the kitchen is really open to the living and dining room which I really like. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and the master has pretty french doors to the outside porch. The biggest drawback to this house is that it doesn't have a garage.

The second house really has it all. It is across the street from the Sparkman Country Club, which is like a neighborhood pool and tennis club. It has a two car garage, a circle drive in front for all of our friends, and it is huge! It has 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, a study off of the master, a really great master closet, an absolutely adorable kitchen, incredibly landscaped backyard. I mean this house is great. Two problems - we don't have enough furniture to fill a 2,819 sqft house and the price is too high. Although - we looked at it because Susan was told by the listing agent that the owners are desperate for an offer any offer - it has been listed since September and the people have to move soon because hubbyhas already been transferred. So we are def keeping it on the list and hoping the price drops!

House Hunting!

It's that time of year again. Our rent is up and Casey and I need to decide what to do. Last year I wanted to buy a home and so went out with a realtor and looked but Casey remained skeptical and thought the real estate market wasn't so good (and boy was he right!) After a few weeks of looking we decided we really liked our loft and so stayed put.

Well we just got a renewal notice from the complex and they want to raise our rent by $600 a month! That is absolutely crazy ridiculous - so here we go again in search of a place to live. I still want to buy a house and get a yard for Rory, a garage, more storage, just a place to call ours - and this time Casey is much more interested. He still views buying a house as a purely financial decision while I view it as partly a financial decision but also an emotional choice to find not just a house but a home.

Yesterday Jessica and I went a drove around and looked at a few of the homes on my favorites list (and crossed a few off the favorites list!) which was so much fun. I love to look at houses and imagine the people inside of them and the stories the house could tell. I called a realtor today and can't wait to get a call back and start trying to find a home sweet home!

Happy Birthday Grandma Parker

What a great Saturday! We drove up to Oklahoma yesterday to see the whole Parker family (Casey's Moms family) and surprise Grandma Parker for her 75th birthday. It was an amazing day of family and fellowship (or as Grandpa Parker said - good weather and time together). The kids flew kites in the back yard, we ate well, and it was so great getting to see everyone. Thanks so much to Mark and Sherry for hosting us all.

Losing the Crutches

I went to the doctor today and he gave me another week on crutches. I am supposed to start gradually putting more and more weight on my foot over the course of a week until I am ready to walk free! I can't wait! On a sad note - my foot is still numb! Up until now the doctor has repeatedly told me not be concerned that nerves are tricky things and the feeling will come back gradually, but today he seemed concerned. So of course now I'm concerned. I just keep telling myself it will all work out. A little tingling sensation and numbness never hurt anyone. Right? I guess now I just wait and see -- or more like wait and feel!

Grey's Anatomy: Where The Wild Things Are

I am truly a romantic. I sit every week and watch Grey's Anatomy and each week I hope for a happy ending for a couple destined to be together, despite all of the crap and the drama. Maybe I am a bit interested in the McHotties and I do thrive on the drama but it is really one of the most realistically human shows out there. After months of waiting, finally there was a new episode of Grey's again tonight! It was another great episode and I will leave you with a few of my favorite quotes tonight:
George to Lexie: “I complain a lot, don’t I? I need to focus on what’s good instead.”
Chief to Izzy: “You’re in a lion’s fight, Stevens. Just because you didn’t win, doesn’t mean you didn’t know how to roar.”
Mark to Derek: “You’re pathetic and I’m a lesser man for knowing you.”

Getting Back to Normal

I have high hopes that tomorrow will be the day. Tomorrow will be the day that I get off of these gosh darn crutches! Pray for me! I have been on them for 6 long weeks and just can't wait to get the use of my hands back. I can't wait to take Rory outside on a walk. I can't wait to be back to normal!
